After last weeks shocking deal which sent former playoff hero Michael Cammalleri out of Montreal mid game against the Bruins (A classless move if I have ever seen one) many people were left shaking their heads. While they still try to wrap their minds around the deal you should snap him up quickly. Cammalleri was an enigma for the Habs, how could such a pure sniper be so ineffective for long stretches? An answer was never found and management says the deal was in the work for a long time but the timing was more than curious shipping him out in an intermission seeing as Rene Bourque still had another game left to serve on his suspension.
Regardless of the reasons for his departure they don’t change the fact Michael is returning to the place he saw his most productive season registering 39 goals and 82 points. Chemistry with Jerome Iginla should result in an instant offensive boost. Cammalleri has already potted a goal in his first game back in Calgary and seeing top line minutes and first unit power play time should also help. With such paltry current totals Cammalleri should come pretty cheap if you can’t pick him up on the waiver wire (owned in 65%) of leagues. You should be able to toss a lower tier second liner or effective grinder.
