Never Used STL Blues 3rd Jersey

Posted by on March 31

“This jersey was approved by the NHL and the St. Louis Blues organization during the 1995-96 season to be the Blues’ third jersey. The Blues intended on debuting the jersey in Wayne Gretzky’s first game with the Blues after being acquired from the L.A. Kings. For the organization’s sake they are lucky that the jersey was never used as it would have potentially gone down as the worst jersey in NHL history. Then coach and general manager Mike Keenan refused to let his team wear these awful jerseys and the jersey never saw the light of day in the NHL. The organization even had a new mascot for the jerseys named “Cool Cat” as seen in the bottom right corner of the picture. Gretzky also dodged a bullet in almost having to wear two of the worst jerseys of all-time in the same season.”
