#7 Jonathan Ludwig North York Knights G.T.H.L. Third Jersey.

“My highlight of my minor hockey career has to be in my second last season in the Greater Toronto Hockey League with the North York Knights. After winning a gruelling seven game series for the GTHL Championships against the Mississauga Braves, our team advanced to the Provincial Championships in Sudbury, Ontario. We were the youngest, smallest, and had the least amount of facial hair out of all the teams. It was safe to say that we were a large underdog going into the tournament, but we showed great heart, determination, and used our speed to our advantage.

After a solid round robin performance, the turning point in the tournament came in the Semi-Finals when our skilled forward Brandon Barber was awarded a penalty shot when we were leading 2-1. Barber and his flair for the dramatics was more than the Woodstock team’s goalie could handle as he would pull off Pavel Datsyuk’s signature move to perfection. Click here for a detailed recap of “The Datsyuk” story. We would hang on to win the game 5-4 to advance to the Provincial Finals.

Overcoming all odds in the Finals, we played our best game of the tournament and won 4-0 against a team from Hearst, Ontario. It was by far my favourite memory of my Minor Hockey days and an accomplishment that will never be forgotten.”
