Highlight of the Day

January 5th – Russia vs. Sweden
A spectacular World Junior tournament was capped off last night by a thrilling gold medal victory for Sweden as Mika Zibanejad shelfed the overtime winner past Russian netminder Andrei Makarov. Makarov stood on his head all night long as the Russians were severely outshot 39-4 after two periods, and 58-15 in the end. Shocking that a team with so much skill would only be able to muster up four shots after two periods. Credit to the Swedes though who came out flying and absolutely dominated the game from start to finish ending a 30 year gold medal drought.
Congrats to the Swedes, they will never forget this moment!
